Uranometria Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the game Uranometria (“the App”), developed by Justin Thomas (“we”, “us”), handles information. It applies to every version of the App — Google Play (Android), itch.io (Android and web), the web version hosted here at justinthomas.pro, and the macOS desktop build. We built Uranometria to need as little of your data as possible.
Summary
- Uranometria has no accounts and never asks for your name, email, or other personal details.
- It has no ads and no purchases, on every version.
- Your game progress and settings are stored only on your device.
- To run its shared “daily” puzzles, the App sends an anonymous, randomly generated identifier and your solve times to our own server when you play a daily while online — never anything that identifies you. (See “Daily puzzle statistics.”)
Information stored on your device
The App saves your puzzle progress, your day/night preference, your daily streaks, and which constellation skies you have charted. This is kept locally — in your browser’s storage on the web, in the app’s private storage on Android, or in a local file on desktop. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the App removes it.
Daily puzzle statistics
Uranometria offers shared daily puzzles. So the App can show how a day’s puzzle is going — how many players have solved it, and the average and best solve times — it communicates with our own server (hosted at justinthomas.pro) when you open and finish a daily puzzle while online. In those moments the App sends:
- a randomly generated player identifier — a string of random characters created on your device, not linked to your name, email, Google account, IP address, or any other personal information;
- which daily puzzle you opened and solved (its date and difficulty);
- your solve time, measured by our server.
We use this only to calculate the shared daily statistics shown in the App. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose, and it is not shared with third parties. The data is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
If you play offline, nothing is transmitted — the entire game works without a network connection, and only the daily-statistics feature uses the internet.
What we do not do
- We do not collect personal information.
- We do not show ads or include advertising SDKs.
- We do not offer in-app purchases.
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We do not sell your data.
Children
Uranometria collects no personal information from anyone, including children, and it contains no ads and no purchases. The anonymous identifier described above is a random value with no connection to any person’s identity.
Third-party hosting
The web version and our daily-statistics server are delivered through our website host (Vercel), and the itch.io platform hosts the web and Android builds offered there. Each of these may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and reliability. Those practices are governed by their own privacy policies.
Your choices
- Play offline to transmit nothing at all.
- Clear the app’s data or uninstall the App to remove locally stored data.
- To request removal of the daily-statistics records tied to your random identifier, email us at the address below.
